STUDIO MIX (FOR KIDS AGES 6-11)
-
Studio Mix is a playful, hands-on art class designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of visual art and design through contemporary materials and techniques. Over six weeks, students will explore drawing, sculpture, animation, and painting while developing fine motor skills, creative confidence, and self-expression. Each week focuses on a new medium or concept, and the final class concludes with a Gallery Walk where students showcase their creations for family and friends.

Week 1 – Thinking Big!
Large-scale drawings from life using pencil, charcoal, and soft pastel. Students learn basic form and shape while sketching toys and stuffed animals, then share their work in a short “artist talk” to build public speaking confidence.Week 2 – Details, Details, Details…
Students dive into storytelling and observation by creating highly-detailed scenes using colored pens and magnifying glasses. Inspired by “I Spy” and “Where’s Waldo,” this activity sharpens attention to detail and imagination.Week 3 – Sculpture Day
Hands-on 3D creation! Students build armatures with masking tape and paper before adding air-dry clay to sculpt their favorite stuffed animals or objects from life.Week 4 – Flipbook Animation
Students learn how drawings come to life by creating short flipbook animations. Using lightboards and sequential drawing, they see their creations move on-screen.Week 5 – Watercolor Paint Making
Students craft their own watercolor paints, experiment with color mixing, and create paintings using the pigments they made themselves.Week 6 – Goodbye Gallery Walk
The session ends with an interactive art show! Students curate their own exhibition, name their pieces, and participate in short “artist talks” for family during pickup. -
